First Discussion Questions

Please share your reactions or concerns about the current debate. We are posing a few questions to get started, but invite you to pose others as well.

What racial/ethnic and gender and sexual orientation information do you find your funders asking you for—or do you as a funder ask for–either in applications, in program reports, or other less formal mechanisms? Have you found it to be too onerous? Has it impacted your own awareness of trends or possible disparities?

In thinking about racial equity, how important is it the funding goes to people of color-led nonprofits, or is it sufficient to assess how much funding is going to grants that serve communities of color? Are there other factors that you think should be measured?
